  1.                CALIBRATION OF THE VISUAL ACUITY CHART

  3. If the size of the projected chart is 
  4. incorrect, the projector must be 
  5. adjusted.  The procedure may vary 
  6. depending on the type of projector 
  7. used.  The following is the procedure 
  8. for the most common projector.
  9.  
  10. The tube on the front of the projector 
  11. has 2 sleeves.  They are held in place 
  12. by set screws.  To adjust, loosen the 
  13. screws.  Sliding the outer tube in and 
  14. out changes the size of the projected 
  15. letters while the inner tube focuses 
  16. the letters.  With one person holding 
  17. the calibration letter (or mm rule) on 
  18. the 20/200 (6/60) letter on the chart, the 
  19. second individual varies the letter size 
  20. (then refocus) by adjusting the tubes 
  21. until the projected letter is the correct 
  22. size and in focus.  Once correctly 
  23. adjusted, retighten the screws.
